In Spring 2025, Julia’s House Children’s Hospices will transform Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole into an artistic wonderland with 40 giant and 60 medium-sized mermaid tail sculptures. This inspiring 8-week art adventure aims to raise vital funds for seriously ill local children and their families.
Micro Nav is proud to sponsor one of these sculptures, a partnership that holds special significance as it continues our long-standing relationship with Julia's House.
Back in 2011, following the roaring success of the ‘Pride in Bournemouth’ lion trail, Micro Nav’s co-founder, Mike Male, purchased one of the lion sculptures — affectionately known as Chalky. In a generous gesture, Mike donated Chalky back to Julia’s House, where it remains a beloved feature in the garden and a creative outlet for the children at the hospice.
This new chapter with the Great Tail Trail allows us to build upon this meaningful legacy of support for Julia's House and the vital services they provide to local families.
Recently, our Managing Director Greg Pile and Product Marketing Manager Oliver Harris had the pleasure of welcoming talented young artist Morgan Guillery to our offices, accompanied by his mother Judy and Caroline Attreed from Julia's House. During his visit, Morgan, who at just 14 years old has already made his mark in the local art community, got hands-on experience with our simulation technology - an exciting opportunity that perfectly aligned with his passion for engineering and technology. His imaginative design for our sponsored tail sculpture, which will be revealed when the trail launches next spring, made him a natural fit for Micro Nav.
Morgan's involvement is particularly special to us, as it represents everything Micro Nav stands for: nurturing young talent, supporting our local community, and celebrating technical innovation. Having already been the youngest artist to paint a sculpture for Julia's House Big Dog Art Trail in Swindon at age 12, Morgan continues to demonstrate incredible potential. Being able to share our work in air traffic control simulation with an aspiring young talent like Morgan made this partnership even more meaningful.
We are delighted with Morgan's creation and look forward to revealing it as part of the Great Tail Trail next spring. This partnership has been a wonderful fusion of supporting both young talent and Julia's House's vital work with local families in need. We can't wait to see all the incredible tail sculptures transform our community into an artistic wonderland while raising funds for such an important cause.
